They are sterling silver but have a Ruthenium coating. Ruthenium is a rare, hard metal related to platinum. When plated over sterling silver, it creates a deep, smoky grey finish that contrasts sharply with standard bright silver. Clogau has used it in some of their ranges to create a more antique, gothic look. The last photo shows you how dark it is next to an uncoated silver Clogau piece. The necklace features a Tree of Life Origin design set with 4 small amethyst stones. The pendant measures 2.7cm from the top of the bale and 2cm wide. It is set on an 18” chain that has the little Clogau tag with the stamps and hallmark. The stud earrings are of the same design and measure 1.5cm across at the widest point. They also have the Clogau stamps and hallmarks with the original butterfly backs. This set is in good preloved condition with small signs of wear on closer inspection. The earring backs aren’t 100% straight but this won’t be noticeable when wearing them.
